Round 2 with the guys over at Jagged Mountain, this time accompanied by Über Brew from Billings, Montana for yet another collaboration. Upon entering the brewery this time, you could see the instant bond and friendship between these two brewers, as they chatted about beer and began their mash in.
It was also great coming in and seeing the progression of the beer they brewed the previous week with CO Brew Denver. As well as, getting a chance to get a smell and taste right off the fermenter.
This time around they decided to brew a New England style IPA with a load of Galaxy hops and a Belgium yeast blend! And unfortunately one of the Über brewers was out sick and couldn't make it to the brew day, but they were still able to connect via FaceTime to show him the progression of the brew day.
In addition to their collaboration brew day they were also racking a barleywine into some barrels that day. It was a great opportunity to see the process and take some photos at the same time.
As the brew session started coming to a close it was time to add in the whirlpool addition, which was a ton of hops! After watching them dump and continue to dump more hops into the kettle it was all you could smell.
And just looking into the kettle afterwards it just looked like a big bowl of "hop soup". It will be very exciting to see the outcome of this beer because of the Belgium yeast. I'm sure it will be introducing some interesting flavor profiles along with the load of hops this beer has.
